4. Griselda Blanco
When most people think of hotshot drug lords, they probably picture muscly men with cryptic tattoos and a stone-cold face permanently set in a fearsome frown. They might be surprised to learn that one of the most infamous drug lords of all time was actually a woman. Her name was Griselda Blanco, and she represented one of the most unrelenting cartels of all time, the Medellin Cartel.
Griselda Blanco was so feared and so well-known that she eventually earned nicknames such as The Cocaine Godmother, La Madrina, and The Black Widow. She was at the top of the world, raking in dirty money. Blanco orchestrated countless attacks on rivals. Often, these attacks resulted in death. Her kingdom came toppling down in 1985, when she was arrested in Miami. She met her death when she was shot by an unknown assailant riding a motorbike, after being released from prison. The Black Widow was responsible for the murder of three of her husbands.
