Today, flying on a plane is a very common experience, and it is statistically safer than riding on a bus. Unfortunately, however, airplanes still have accidents. UPS Airlines Flight 1354 This cargo flight took off from Louisville, Kentucky, and was heading to Birmingham, Alabama. During the plane’s approach to the airport, it crashed, due to pilot error. Both crew members died in the crash, there were no other passengers on the plane. Kamachatsky Airlines Flight 251 This flight took off from Petropavlovsk in Russia. The plane crashed in the woods near Plana Airport. The cause of the crash was due to pilot error, because both of the pilots were extremely drunk. Unfortunately, there were only four survivors. TransAsia Airways Flight 235 This was a domestic flight, which left Taipel Songshan Airport and was heading to Kinmen. Right after the plane took off, the plane crashed into the Keelung River. The crash was due to mechanical failue and pilot error. There were 15 survivors of the crash and 43 people died. Dagestan Airlines Flight 372 This flight left Vnukovo Airport in Moscow, Russia, and was heading to Uytash Airport, located in Dagestan. The cause of the crash was due to major equipment failure. Of the 168 people on board, only two people died. U.S. Airways Flight 1549 This flight left Laguardia Airport in New York City, and was heading to Charlotte, North Carolina. The plane struck a flying goose, which caused technical problems, causing the plane to crash into the East River. Luckily, all 155 people on board survived the crash. Turkish Airlines Flight 1951 This was a nonstop flight from Istanbul to Amsterdam. While attempting to land in Amsterdam, the plane crashed. The cause of the crash was determined to be a combination of pilot error and equipment failure. There were 135 people on board, and nine of them were killed. British Airways Flight 38 This flight was going from Bejiing to London, and it crashed as it was approaching London’s Heathrow Airport. The cause of the accident was determined to be equipment failure caused by the weather. Everyone on board survived. Flight 200 Jakarta This flight was going from Jakarta to Yongkarta, Indonesia. The plane overran the runway during its descent. The cause of the crash was determined to be pilot error. A total of 21 people did not survive the crash. China Airlines Flight 120 This flight was nonstop from Taipei Airport to Okanawa, Japan. After the plane landed, and it was taxiing to the gate at the airport, the plane burst into flames. The cause of the fire was a design flaw, and all 165 people on the plane survived. One-Two-Go Airlines Flight 269 This was a nonstop flight that took off from Bangkik’s Don Mueang Airport. It crashed on its approach to Phuket Airport. The crash was determined to be caused by pilot error. There were 130 people on board, and only 40 survived, leaving 90 fatalities. TAM Airlines Flight 3054 This was a nonstop flight which left Porto Alagre and was heading to Sao Paulo Brazil. Right after the plane landed, it overshot the runway and crashed into a nearby warehouse. There were 181 people on board, and they all died. The cause of the accident was determined to be due to pilot error. Katekavia Flight 957 This flight left Kranoyarsk and was heading to Igarka, Russia. The plane crashed in a field while landing at the airport. The crash was found to be due to pilot error. Twelve people died on the plane. The only survivors were the 3 flight crew members. Air India Express Flight 812 This flight left Dubai Airport, and there were 168 people on board. When the plane landed at Mangalore Airport, the plane overran the runway. Of the 168 people on board, 160 were killed. The cause of the accident was due to pilot error. Manx2 Flight 7100 This flight left Belfast City Airport, located in Northern Ireland. It was heading towards Cork. As it was heading to the airport, it crashed. The cause was due to poor weather conditions and pilot error. Six people on the plane, including both of the pilots died in the crash.
