In this poignant series of bold pictographs, known graphic designer Yang Liu addresses the old, but always relevant, issue of the difference between the sexes. In her work, published in a series by TASCHEN, the artist draws on her own experiences, challenging some known and some lesser known issues between men and women. Some of them lead to problems in communication between the sexes, while others are known, accepted, and even enforced by culture. Her approach is both subtle and direct, with a healthy dose of humor.
Yang Liu was born in Beijing and has studied in the University of Arts in Berlin. She continued to work as a cutting-edge designer in Singapore, London, Berlin and New York, and has founded her own design studio in 2004.
