Humans are social beings who build relationships on the basis of communication; a conversation forms a huge part of that. I personally live for a good conversation. Nothing makes me happier than spending a good time talking to my friends and close ones. A decent conversation today, sadly, is not immune to what the modern age gave us: smartphones will social media feeds that are updated every second. The best thing we can do at this stage is tune out and choose our moments well.
We spoke to some people who told us these things are the worst of the worst when it comes to conversation killers:
1. “When someone talks over you or cuts you off mid-sentence.”
2. “When you realise the other person was on the phone while you were pouring your heart out.”
3. “When someone tries to make you feel like your preferences and opinions are wrong.”
4. “When people keep talking about the number of problems and not solutions.”
5. “Getting replies like ‘hmm’ and ‘k.'”
6. “When blaming someone becomes more important.”
7. ” Phrases like ‘aur batao.’ Like what new thing can I tell you every minute?”
8. “When a third person jumps in to the conversation expecting me to start all over again.”
9. “When they don’t ask questions and only talk about themselves.”
