I’ve been single for over 10 years. Sometimes people ask me why, but I don’t really have an answer for them. I just like being single.
So, I started thinking about it and, after doing some soul-searching and research, have come up with these 6 reasons people stay single.
Doing What You Want When You Want
This is a big one for me. I love making my own schedule. I love waking up on my days off when I want to wake up and going to bed when I want to go to bed.
I like eating whatever I want to eat, even if that means ice cream for dinner. I love watching what I want to on TV and I love to not turn on TV or music if I want peace and quiet. I just love being able to do my own thing.
Refusing To Settle
And, I mean for anything! Whether it’s for another human being or a career, you just refuse to settle in any way. Since that’s the case, you’re sure as hell not going to waste your time being with someone who doesn’t live up to your standards.
When you meet the person who’s right for you, you’ll know it…and you’re willing to wait until you do.
Finding A Good Match Is Difficult
Everyone is unique and has their own little quirks, and sometimes it’s difficult to be your true self in front of someone you don’t know. It’s not easy to find someone who likes to jump out of planes, go spelunking, climb cliffs, or go hang gliding.
And, you want to take your time and wait until you find someone who will accept you for who you are, rather than mold you into someone they want you to be.
Financial Reasons
Whether it’s because you have a lot of debt you don’t want someone else to absorb, or someone else has a lot of debt you don’t want to take on, this is a big reason for some people.
You want to be financially stable before you enter into a relationship and you want your partner to do the same. And, you’re willing to wait until you accomplish it.
You Don’t Want To Deal With Someone Else’s Problems
Being in a relationship means dealing with someone else’s problems and you just don’t have time for that.
You have your own problems, and once you get those figured out then maybe you’ll take on the drama of someone else and their issues.
You’re Happy With Your Life The Way It Is
You don’t need to commit yourself to anyone else because you’ve got something really awesome going on with yourself. You can count on yourself and provide for yourself.
You love your life the way it is and plan on keeping things this awesome for as long as you want to. You have an identity and that doesn’t involve being one part of a whole. You already feel whole.
