The time-lapse video below takes 1:30 minutes to watch, but make no mistake – each of Seattle based artist Dylan Eakin’s incredible charcoal portraits takes about 100 hours to complete! It may not be a complete surprise when you look at them closely. They are extremely detailed and vivid. ‘For me, it’s an exploration of medium, an exercise in precision and self-discipline, and an attempt to engineer myself and my tools to produce the work of a machine’ he has shared in an interview. It seems to be working.
