If you remember some of the artists we have featured before, you probably know that practically any surface can become a canvas. Sometimes, it’s a dusty car window or even an empty mint container. Art can be created on virtually anything. For Anna Chojnicka, the unconventional canvas of choice is… a banana.
It all started in March 2020, when the lockdown was implemented for the first time. To add some color to her days, Anna decided to attempt a daily art challenge. The challenge soon became a hobby, and Anna hasn’t stopped creating banana art ever since.
Anna doesn’t use any ink or paint to draw on the banana peels. Instead, she implements a unique technique she calls “bruising” that allows her to change the color of a banana peel and create dimension using only the contrast between the bruised and the unbruised surface of the fruit.
For those wondering, Anna eats every banana she doodles on, so nothing ever goes to waste. “After I’ve taken the photo, I eat the banana! I’ll either eat it on that day or I’ll store a few up to make a banana cake or a banana fool, which is delicious. No food goes to waste,” she said in a statement to Bright Side.
